Two dead in east Petaluma shooting

A shooting in Petaluma left two people dead, according to the Petaluma Police Department.|

Two people were found dead of gunshot wounds Thursday on Petaluma’s east side in what police suspect is a murder-?suicide, Petaluma Police ?Lt. Brian Miller said.

Police responded to a home on Echo Court, a block-long cul-de-sac near La Tercera Elementary School, at about 4 p.m. Thursday and found a man and a woman dead of gunshot wounds inside the home, Miller said.

“The investigation’s indicating that the individuals more than likely knew each other, and it more than likely looks like it could be more of a ?murder-suicide situation,” Miller said.

Additional details about the deaths were not available Thursday night, and the identities of the dead were unknown. Police do not know how long the bodies were inside the home before they were discovered, and will have to wait for a time of death determination by the coroner, Miller said.

In an Instagram post, the Petaluma Police Department said it will update its social media feeds with additional information as it becomes available.
