Sonoma Valley High alum graduates from basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Tanner D. Matthis graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas.

Matthis completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.

Matthis is the son of Tori and Steve Matthis of Sonoma, and brother of Cayden Matthis of Mckinney, Texas.

He is a 2015 graduate of Sonoma Valley High School.
