Wreaths across America to honor veterans

Ceremonies take place simultaneously across country|

The annual Wreaths Across America ceremony to honor veterans will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Park. The 8:45 a.m. event will take place rain or shine.

Wreaths Across America events take place simultaneously throughout the country, in which veterans are honored by participants who place holiday wreaths at their gravesites. Local event organizers say Sonoma’s ceremony is special because the only Revolutionary War veteran buried west of the Mississippi is buried here.

The public is welcome to attend and place a holiday wreath. Once the wreaths are placed at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Memorial Park, wreaths are then placed on the gravesites of Veterans at Sonoma’s Mountain, St. Francis Solano and Valley cemeteries.

Wreaths Across America in Sonoma is coordinated by Civil Air Patrol Squadron 157; donations of $15 per wreath may be sent to:
