Sonoma police beat: Bong in the parking lot

Among the incidents recently reported to Sonoma Valley law enforcement:

Nov. 25, 8:35 a.m.: A report came in of shoplifting at the Safeway on West Napa Street in Sonoma, sheriff's officials said. The reporting party described the suspect vehicle, a 2000 gold four-door Honda Civic, and provided the license number.

Employees had gotten suspicious when they saw a woman wearing a jacket appear to slip items under the jacket, then attempt to walk out of the Safeway with a handbasket full of items, sheriff's officials said. A manager told her she had to pay, and she dropped the handbasket and left.

Upon getting the report, the deputy sped into action, tracking down the Civic on First Street West. A search of the car turned up a wallet containing credit cards and other items that had been reported stolen from a man's car earlier that day in Sonoma, according to sheriff's officials.

Luke Petrakis, 36, of Napa, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, acquiring credit cards without consent and violation of probation. Samantha Cody, 25, also of Napa, was arrested for obtaining credit using another person's ID (essentially, identity theft).

Nov. 28, around 2:30 p.m.: A citizen flagged down a deputy who was patroling the Safeway parking lot on West Napa Street. The citizen reported that a couple was smoking drugs from a glass pipe in the parking lot, according to sheriff's officials. The suspect, Anthony Orr, 33, told the deputy he and Caroline Frampton, 26, had been living out of their car in Santa Rosa, but came to Sonoma for a visit, sheriff's officials said.

Orr said he had been replacing a liquid in the bong in the parking lot and apologized to the deputy, sheriff's officials said. A records check revealed that the car, a Honda, had been reported stolen. Orr was arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, and probation violation, sheriff's officials said. Frampton was arrested on suspicion of the same crimes, and the two were booked into the Santa Rosa main adult detention facility.

Nov. 29, 8:39 p.m.: A deputy on southbound Highway 12 in Sonoma saw an Audi booking it down the highway, and accelerated to 45 mph to catch up, sheriff's officials said. The posted speed limit is 30 mph. After the deputy pulled over the car, the driver said she didn't have identification and gave the deputy what was supposedly her name – but the name she gave didn't match the name on her driver's license, sheriff's officials said.

The driver, Jenna Feeney, told the deputy she lied about her name because she had three outstanding local arrest warrants, sheriff's officials said. Feeney was arrested on suspicion of providing false identification and also for the outstanding warrants, according to sheriff's officials.
