Community comes out for Sonoma Valley High career panels

Sixty professionals participated in the all-student event|

More than two dozen local business owners and executives, both from community members and graduates of Sonoma Valley High School, came to campus in late November to participate in the school’s annual career panels. SVHS alums Denise Calvillo (North Bay Credit Union), Rebecca Hermosillo (Congressman Mike Thompson’s office), Kevin Jaggie (Wells Fargo Financial Advisors) and Laura Monterosso (teacher at Sassarini) gathered for a photo after their career panels.

Supervisor Susan Gorin and Hermosillo, a senior field rep to Thompson, discussed government and politics. Alumnus Tyler Johnson (SonomaFit athletic trainer), Sonoma Stompers Assistant General Manager Eddie Mora-Loera, Stompers General Manager Brett Creamer and SVHS Athletic Director Mike Boles discussed sports management and athletic training. Jon Parker, Lindsey Stone (SVHS alum) and Kevin Jaggie (SVHS alum) discussed careers in finance and investing with students. Scott Silveira and Jay Savoy of Silveira Chevrolet discussed automotive careers. In all, 60 professionals participated in panels on campus. The event is organized each year by SVHS Work-Based Learning Coordinator Wendy Swanson.
