In conversation with Sonoma principal Maite Iturri

The opportunities and challenges facing her campus and the broader Springs community|

Congregation Shir Shalom will welcome El Verano Elementary School Principal Maite Iturri for a wide-ranging conversation about the school, the Springs community where she lives, and the unique challenges that they are contending with.

“Maite is recognized by her peers as one of the most innovative educators in our district,” said Wendy Hoffman, a CSS congregant who will be conducting the interview with Iturri. “During her long tenure at El Verano School, she has created a special environment of progressive learning, collaboration and respect.”

The event, organized by Shir Shalom’s Lifelong Learning Committee, begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, in the sanctuary, followed by a dessert reception.

A suggested donation, to be collected at the door, is $5 for members, $10 for non-members. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Community Resource Center at El Verano School. No one will be turned away if they are unable to donate.

Walk-ins are welcome, but to assure a seat, RSVP to info@shirshalom.org by Wednesday, Sept. 12.

The talk will be held at Congregation Shir Shalom, 252 W. Spain St.
