Two people were injured in a head-on collision Thursday morning on Highway 116 near Sonoma, the CHP said.

The 6:41 a.m. crash on Highway 116 at Bonness Road involved a white Dodge van and a silver Honda Civic, Sgt. Josh Kolstad said. One of the vehicles crossed over the double yellow line, colliding with the other vehicle, said Napa CHP Officer Marc Renspurger.

The van then traveled off the roadway and into a ditch, he said.

A driver was extricated from one of the vehicles with major injuries, Kolstad said. The other driver reported minor injuries, and both were transported to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, Renspurger said. There were no passengers in either vehicle, Renspurger said.

The roadway was not closed, Renspurger said.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation.

No other information was immediately available Thursday morning.
