Inside Sonoma Ecology Center’s internship program

Applications now open for spring.|

The Sonoma Ecology Center is taking applications for its Spring Enviroleaders program. Students age 14 to 18 work Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings from March 4 through May 13 on environmental projects and get paid for it. The deadline to apply is Feb. 26.

The program offers hands-on education in the fields of sustainable agriculture and restoration, providing Sonoma Valley teens with the opportunity to gain essential job and life skills through practical environmentally focused training. There will be an emphasis on sustainable agriculture, community building and park stewardship in the semester-long employment program.

Enviroleaders are mentored by Sonoma Ecology Center educators and other professionals in the environmental field. They meet twice a week at the Sonoma Garden Park and other sites around the Valley. Participants are paid $12 an hour.

The program is looking for students who are good team players, have strong communication skills, are willing to learn and have an interest in working on sustainable communities and climate change. Bilingual students are encouraged to apply.

To apply, fill out an application at sonomaecologycenter.org/enviroleaders and email a cover letter and resume to tony@sonomaecologycenter.org.
