Truck break-ins plague Springs

Some of the break-ins are blocks apart the same night|

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a rash of truck burglaries in the Springs recently.

At least five trucks were burglarized and thousands of dollars worth of tools taken.

Sgt. Jason Craver, with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, said there are no suspects in any of the break-ins, but deputies would be surprised if most of them weren’t connected.

Sometime overnight on Tuesday, June 5, two trucks just blocks apart were broken into. At 6:21 a.m. on June 6, a resident in the 500 block of Oak Street reported that sometime overnight, someone broke into his truck and stole landscape and construction tools valued at around $1,000. The burglar broke the window with an unknown object.

About an hour later, another victim in the 900 block of Oak Street reported that sometime overnight, someone broke a window in his truck and made off with numerous hand tools of indeterminate value. A number of tools were strewn on the ground.

On June 7, a resident in the 18800 block of Polley Lane reported that sometime overnight, someone had entered his unlocked truck and stole tools worth almost $2,300.

On Tuesday, June 12, a resident in the 300 block of Cherry Avenue reported that sometime overnight, someone had broken the door lock on his van and took construction tools values at $750. All the doors on the truck were left open.

Later that afternoon, a resident in the 18000 block of Comstock Avenue, just blocks from the Cherry Avenue break-in, reported that someone had entered his locked van and taken about $1,200 worth of tools. There was no sign of forced entry and the burglar or burglars left the window rolled down when they left.
