Parade deadline is June 27

The Sonoma Volunteer Firefighters Association is now accepting applications for the 2018 July Fourth Parade.

The parade applications are available on line at sonomavolunteerfirefighters.org. Parade entrants are encouraged to follow this year’s parade theme “Sonoma Strong!” There are a limited number of entries and applications will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis until midnight June 27.

This year’s celebration begins at 10 a.m. with a parade around the Plaza. Entries should be decorated in a patriotic manner and have some recognizable connection to the theme.

For parade attendees who want to cool off after the parade, the “Splash Zone” will return for the second year in a row. Children and adults are welcome in the Splash Zone near the El Dorado Hotel as the last parade float passes, but participants should be prepared to get wet.

After the parade, the fun is just beginning. At 11 a.m. there will be a festival in the Plaza with an assortment of games, information booths, food, live entertainment, drinks and fun for the whole family.

The success of this event hinges largely on community support as this event relies entirely on donations. With everyone’s help, the firefighters would like to partner with you to ensure that the largest one-day community event in Sonoma will continue for years to come, said spokesman Bob Norrbom.

“It’s the goal of the SVFA to showcase the Sonoma sponsors and supporters. To become a sponsor or make a donation, visit our website at sonomavolunteerfirefighters.org for more information,” Norrbom said.
