Teen employment has plummeted in recent decades as students have become busier during the school year and academics have taken center stage. Fewer than a third of teens nationally work a part-time job these days, down from more than 50 percent 40 years ago.

But with the summer stretching out before them, some Sonoma teens are starting to think about not only earning some money, but also gaining some life and work experience. Plus nothing looks better on a college application, future resume or in your parents' eyes than a kid with a purpose.

Below, the Index Tribune helps you begin your summer job search with a few places that are looking for help from current high school students or college students home for the summer, as of press time.
