An 82-year-old man riding a bike on Highway 12 near Glen Ellen suffered major injuries Monday when he was struck by an SUV, according to the CHP.

Richard Hunt of Indio was headed west on the rural highway and crossing the Trinity Road intersection about 2 p.m. when an eastbound driver in a 2015 Ford Explorer turned left and hit him, Officer Marc Renspurger said in a Tuesday news release.

The driver was identified as Justin Morris, 38, of St. Helena.

Hunt, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Tuesday he was listed in critical condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
