Woodland Star Charter School’s sixth grade had two teams participate in the Bodgea Bay Wooden Boat Challenge on April 15.

Team Shark Bait made up of Emerson Fay and Zeehan McShane took first place in the Junior Youth Division while Team Gryffindor made up of Marianna Brady and Kate Llodra took third place.

The teams had three hours to build their own watercraft using only hand tools which they then raced around a marked course in Bodega Bay.

A crowd of 2,500 spectators cheered on the adult and youth teams at the family friendly community fundraiser.

The Wooden Boat Challenge is one of the annual Bodega Bay Fisherman Festival’s main attractions.
