Adele Harrison Middle School students are presenting a musical adaptation of the Disney musical, “The Lion King.”

The musical follows the adventures of a spunky young lion, Simba (Mario Alioto) the rightful heir to the animal-kingdom throne, after his father Mufasa (Sam Mishra), dies at the hands of his scheming uncle Scar (Katie Baldwin). After disappearing for years in the jungle, Simba returns as an adult (Cristian Moreno) to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon (Reina Gibbs) and Pumbaa (Campbell Rolston) and the encouragement of Nala and the guiding voice of his father Mufasa.

Adele dancers will bring the music to life, thanks to choreography by Amee Alioto. Adele’s Ellen Gruenhagen, head of the school’s performing arts program oversaw the production, including design of costumes and sets with the help of students.

“This fun-loving cast and crew has created a production of this timeless classic that is perfect for kids and adults alike, and will leave you wanting more,” says Gruenhagen.

The performance is at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 19.

Tickets are free, donations accepted.
