Churches partner in Glen Ellen clean up

Seacoast Community Church help Glen Ellen Community Church members|

Twelve volunteers from Seacoast Community Church in Encinitas (San Diego County) teamed up with members and friends of the Glen Ellen Community Church over the weekend of March 16-18, to help out on lots burned by last year’s fire.

Housed in homes and in the church sanctuary for three nights, the men cut down trees, chipped up branches, re-built a wooden fence, re-built a wire fence, dug out destroyed plants and shrubs and replanted others, refurbished a small bridge, and rebuilt a patio overhead on two lots out on Dunbar Road.

Then they took the wood chipper onto O’Donnell Lane in Glen Ellen and downed trees and chipped wood there.

Glen Ellen Community Church Pastor Jim Hill expressed his gratitude during Sunday’s worship service by saying, “This combined team of men and women accomplish a great work over these past three days – bringing blessing to several in our community in the name of Jesus. Thank you so much for coming.”

John Boehmer, Seacoast spokesperson, greeted those in the church and said, “We’ve had a great time here, thank you so much for your hospitality. While we were aware of the fire, there’s nothing like working on the ground in partnership with those who have endured through it to enable us to really experience what you have been going through. Thank you for inviting us.”

Currently, plans are underway for Seacoast Community to return and assist in other needs throughout Glen Ellen.
