Demos to discuss ‘zero waste’
The Sonoma Valley Democrats are partnering with North Bay Jobs with Justice to present a panel discussion: “Building a Movement for Good Jobs and Zero Waste” from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 26, at the Sonoma Springs Community Hall, 18627 Highway 12.
The panel will examine how bad jobs can become good jobs in the waste management industry, how a zero waste campaign for Sonoma County over the next decade can result in a 100 percent diversion rate of waste from landfills, and how county residents can become involved. The panelists will be Fred Stemmler, Recology general manager, Sonoma and Marin: Celia Furber, Recology general waste manager; Sunny Galbraith, 350 Sonoma; and Patricio Estupiñan, Recology driver and Teamster Local 665 leader with Marty Bennett, co-chair, North Bay Jobs with Justice as moderator.
Prior to the presentation, there will be a potluck dinner and social time, and a brief business meeting. Participants are asked to bring a potluck dish to share. Everyone is welcome at no charge. For more information, email Beth at bethh@sonic.net.
