Creative Sonoma has announced that three categories of grants are available for individuals, organizations and enterprises for fire relief and recovery needs and activities.

The categories include recovery funds for physical loss, recovery funds for economic loss, and arts response grants for organizations.

“Our arts community was among the first to step up after the fires and volunteer their services – to help raise funds and raise spirits of so many members of our community who were affected,” said Chair of the Board of Supervisors James Gore. “These grant opportunities underscore the important role that we believe our creative sector will play in helping us all build back better.”

Recovery funds continue to be available to creative individuals, organizations and enterprises who experienced either physical loss or economic loss as a result of the fires. Applicants must show a five-year history of working in the arts and/or creative industries and demonstrate financial need and scope of loss.

“Arts response” grants are designed to fund fire response projects being created by arts organizations and/or cultural organizations who are working in partnership with arts organizations. Applicants will be evaluated on artistic merit, innovation and impact on the community, among other criteria.

The deadline for “arts response” grants and “economic loss” grants is April 2. The deadline for “physical loss” grants is rolling until the funds are fully expended. These funds are being made available through the County of Sonoma, local and regional foundations, and individual donors from across the country. For a full list of donors, visit CreativeSonoma.org.

Grant guidelines outlining eligibility and application forms are available at CreativeSonoma.org/grants. Questions on the project can be sent to Samantha.kimpel@sonoma-county.org.
