Cat in the Hat hits Sonoma

Read Across American events in 2018.|

Most local elementary schools in Sonoma Valley participated in the Read Across America events in early March.

At Dunbar Elementary School, the Cat in the Hat visited classrooms, and readers from all over the community were reading to students.

At Sassarini Elementary, Principal Andrew Ryan dressed as the Cat in the Hat and read with students in a variety of settings.

'It was a chance to celebrate the great work our students and teachers are doing to celebrate and encourage reading,' says Karen Strong, the district's associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
