Tinker opp: The CTE Foundation Sonoma County is offering a new free Girls Tinker Academy, a program partnership with Community WISE (Women Investing in STEM Equity) and Sonoma State University. This summer, 24 middle school students from across Sonoma County will be selected to attend the hands-on sessions to be taught by SSU professors in the SSU Makerspace. Teen leadership: Ag-plus Open Space Advisory Committee seeks youth member. Applications due by Tuesday, May 1. Enrichment programs: Santa Rosa Junior College has a number of great free camps for high school students this summer that can help teens to explore career opportunities. There is a Cybersecurity Camp (at Petaluma SRJC campus) beginning June 25. There is a (FastTrax) Jet Engine camp on June 12 to 14; and there is a robotics program June 19 to 21. Summer internship: Applications are open now through May 6 for the Sonoma Ecology Center's Enviroleader internship program. The summer program goes from June 8 to Aug. 3 with workdays on Wednesdays, Fridays and some Saturdays. It will include a lot of gardening, harvesting and prep for our farmers markets. Teens start off with an Introduction to Backpacking program to get to know one another. There will be a Teen Job Networking event, working with children in nature camps, and community service projects as well. sonomaecologycenter.org/enviroleaders/.

Scholarship: The Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Alliance offers merit scholarships to 2018 high school graduates who will be attending college in the fall. Applicants must be a child of an active grower or vintner member or an employee of a member or (new this year) enrolled in the SVHS Sustainable Ag Academy.
