Garden Park update workshop

Saturday session at 11 a.m. follows volunteer hands-on time from 9 a.m. to 11.|

The Sonoma Ecology Center is holding a community workshop at Sonoma Garden Park on Saturday, Feb. 17, to share and receive ideas on the ongoing Sonoma Garden Park Master Plan Update.

Currently in its first draft, the Master Plan Update proposes a variety of improvements to the Garden Park, including annexation of the Pauline Bond Homestead Area in the northwest corner of the park, a small amphitheater, new children’s play areas and other improvements.

The SEC will introduce their current plans for the Garden Park, and solicit community ideas and insights on how best to go forward. Members of Sonoma Ecology Center, which manages the park for the city along with UC Master Gardeners, will be on hand to answer questions.

Garden lovers are encouraged to come early to lend a hand with ongoing volunteer projects at Sonoma Garden Park prior to the workshop, from 9 to 11 a.m. The meeting begins at 11 a.m. on Feb. 17, in the Straw Bale Barn.
