The former executive director of a Sonoma nonprofit providing affordable house to seniors was convicted Wednesday of embezzling more than $100,000 from the organization over a five-year period.

Daniel Broin, 57, of Mendocino County, faces a possible prison sentence in the theft from the Finnish American Home Association, which operates two facilities on West Verano Avenue.

Following a three-week trial, jurors found Broin guilty of grand theft by embezzlement but acquitted him of a second charge of theft from an elder. He was also cleared of a special white-collar crime allegation.

He remains free before his sentencing March 21.

Broin, a former Napa resident, was arrested in 2016 after association board members complained to detectives. Charges against his domestic partner, Ayrick Broin, 44, were dismissed.
