Sonoma teens enjoy Art Escape lounge

Monthly get together for art, pizza and support|

Where can you find a group of teenagers who are not looking at their cell phones?

One spot is at Art Escape’s new Teen Art Lounge, which aims to be a welcoming place where local teens can gather on the first Friday night of the month to make art.

Attendance is free - all art materials and instruction are provided as well as a pizza slice or two. With guidance from experienced teaching artists, the teens explore many art materials and techniques.

Each week, a different technique is demonstrated for any teen who wants to learn something new or needs a place to begin. Projects may include stenciling, screen printing, scrap wood sculpture and cartooning.

The upcoming dates are March 2 and April 6.

Hours are 7 to 10 p.m. Teens can sign up by going to artescapesonoma.com or by calling 938-5551. Art Escape is located in Boyes Hot Springs at 17474 Sonoma Highway. The Teen Art Lounge is made possible by Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley and individual donations.
