Justin-Siena names new president

David Holquin is back at the helm of Napa school|

After Justin-Siena High School officials conducted a hastened search – which board chair Dennis Pedisich described as “focused” – the school announced on Dec. 18 that David Holquin will return to the Napa campus as its next president. He will assume the post in mid-January.

He joins Brother Christopher Brady, who was appointed as principal in late October, in leading the Catholic high school.

Holquin is familiar to many at Justin as he worked at the school from 2004 to 2015, serving as a teacher, campus minister, summer programs coordinator, admissions director and chief advancement officer. He also served as interim principal following the retirement of Noel Hesser and the death of his successor, Herman Shum, prior to recent principal John Bordelon’s appointment.

Holquin left Justin-Siena in 2015 to take an advancement position at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, where he oversaw alumni relations and fundraising operations. As the Director of Development, he was responsible for a team which raised $3.7 million for annual operations, $2 million for capital projects, and $2 million in endowment gifts. He also managed a $6.5 million capital campaign.

“Thankfully, God’s providence has brought a leader of David’s caliber back to Justin-Siena,” said Pedisich in announcing the appointment.

Holquin attended Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento and St. Mary’s College in Moraga. He said he’s excited to be returning to the school.

“Justin-Siena knows no limits when we nurture our relationships, focus on what is best for students, and work together on behalf of the Brothers and the students entrusted to our care,” he said. “I am also filled with gratitude to the entire community in anticipation of the work we will do together to shape the next chapter of Justin-Siena’s history and further our impact in the Napa Valley and beyond.”
