Every year, Sonoma Valley’s section FFA (previously called Future Farmers of America) officers plan a community service night. For the past five years that night has been at the Redwood Empire Food Bank in Santa Rosa where the members package food items. This year the Sonoma Valley FFA students took a sozen members to the food bank to join the other members from their section to participate in the event.

The theme this year was “Rise from the Rubble.” Each student receives a T-shirt as a thank you for their service. This year’s group bagged 10,000 pounds of apples for families in need in Sonoma County.

FFA in California is divided into different levels, it starts with a chapter level which is just the local school level, then it moves on to a section level that is multiple schools in the same general area. The local section is known as the Sonoma Section and includes all ten high schools in Sonoma County that have agriculture programs, as well as St. Helena.
