38-year-old Sonoma woman died Saturday night after a head-on collision with an RV on Lakeville Highway, just south of Old Lakeville Road No. 1.

The woman, who has not been identified, was traveling north in a 2006 Toyota Scion when for unknown reasons she drove into oncoming traffic, Officer Jon Sloat, a spokesman with the CHP, said in an email.

“She failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway and allowed the Toyota to cross over the double yellow lines,” Sloat said.

The woman collided head-on with a 2017 Ford Freedom Elite RV. Both the Scion and the RV came to rest against guardrails. The accident was first reported to emergency personnel at 9:08 p.m.

Fire crews and paramedics arrived on scene and transported half a dozen people, including passengers in the RV, to Petaluma Valley Hospital. The driver of the Scion, who was not wearing her seatbelt, died of her injuries at the hospital, officials said.

The driver of the RV, identified as Connor Driscoll, 22, of Folsom, was treated for injuries to his right foot, neck and back. Driscoll's front passenger, Monica Driscoll, suffered an injury to her lower back, legs and left foot.

Three other passengers in the RV were treated for minor cuts and bruises. Sloat said the cause of the crash is still under investigation and it is not known whether drugs or alcohol was involved.
