Weekend events canceled throughout the Valley

Information on SVMA, Laughfest, Ragtime Festival and more|

What was shaping up to be a busy weekend of cultural activities in Sonoma Valley, has evolved instead into a grim battle against nature. Almost every local arts and entertainment event planned has been canceled. If you don’t see any event here, be sure to call first before heading out to confirm if it is still taking place.

Sonoma Arts Live

“It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I make the decision to postpone this weekend’s opening of ‘The Rainmaker,’ by N. Richard Nash,” said Libby Oberlin of Sonoma Arts Live. “Our hope was to run this weekend, and open our doors, our hearts, and share the gifts of this talented cast free to charge to anyone who might need a safe place to join together for a few hours, to enjoy a beautiful romantic story of ‘The Rainmaker’ and the larger-than-life vagabond who comes to town and meets a family suffering emotionally and physically from the droughts of the 1920s.

“We could all use a little of the magical thinking and spirit of Starbuck (played by Tyler McKenna) and the transformative power of hope experienced by Lizzie (Abbey Lee) and the Curry Family.

“Unfortunately, with the changes predicted for our beautiful town with the winds and forever-changing news, it’s just prudent to cancel until safer times.”

Our prayers are with everyone. We will reschedule our event when we can convene to celebrate all of the Star volunteers, as well as so many of those in our community who are heroes-in-the-making helping Sonoma Valley through this moment in time. We hope to convene at a later time when we all can enjoy the event with uplifted spirits. We will notify all those who registered for the event, and the community at large, when the time is right to reschedule.”
