Pink patches aid Explorers, breast cancer awareness

INDEX-TRIBUNE STAFF REPORT, INDEX-TRIBUNE STAFF REPORT

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this year, so the City of Sonoma and the Sonoma Police Department are participating in the Pink Patch Project.

The SPD Explorers purchased pink City of Sonoma Patches in order to raise awareness of Breast Cancer.

The patches are being sold at the front desk at the Sonoma Police Department, 175 First St. W., until the end of October or whenever the patches sell out. They are available Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The patch is selling for $10. The proceeds will be split with half going back to the city’s Explorer program and half to the American Cancer Society. The money going back to the Explorers will help fund the program for equipment purchases and competitions throughout the year.

The patches are a cash-only item, no checks or credit cards can be accepted.
