Sonoma’s Altimira Middle School adds vice principal

Will Deeths will be helping out in the district office two days a week|

A new part-time vice principal has been brought on board at Altimira Middle School. Margaret Jacobsen, known locally for her leadership of the district’s K-2 Summer Literacy Academy, has taken the post for up to two days a week. She was added to the school administrative team two days a week to free up time for principal Will Deeths to take on new roles at the district office, centered around communications and leadership team support.

In addition to her leadership of the Literacy Academy last summer, Jacobsen has also taught at Dunbar Elementary and worked as a teacher on special assignment tackling English language development and science curriculum issues for the district. Previously in her career, Jacobsen taught in the International Baccalaureate program at the Healdsburg School and taught primary grades in Iowa City and Virginia Beach public schools. She received her bachelor’s degree from Norfolk State University and her master’s degree in education from Graceland University.

Jacobsen splits her time between Altimira and serving as an intervention specialist at Sassarini Elementary School.
