One dead, 3 hurt in Sonoma small-plane crash

Aircraft went down in a field near Sonoma Skypark|

One person was killed and three persons were injured early Thursday afternoon when a private plane crashed into a field southwest of the Sonoma Skypark on Eighth Street East.

The plane went down at around 12:45 p.m. in a field between San Luis Road and Schellville Road.

According to a release from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, there were four passengers on the plane with one confirmed fatality, identified as William Sachs Goldman, 38, from San Francisco.

The three passengers, reported to be children, were transported to local hospitals.

Rescue personnel from Schell-Vista responded as well as two helicopters – REACH-1 and the sheriff’s Henry-1.

The plane, a five passenger Cirrus22T, was registered to a company out of Palo Alto.

The crash investigation will be handled by the FAA, which had personnel from its Oakland office on the way to the crash site Thursday afternoon, July 13.
