A southbound driver on Highway 101 in Santa Rosa Wednesday morning drifted off an exit, clipping two redwood trees and rolling over, according to authorities.

The Honda sedan landed on its wheels to the side of the College Avenue exit but the driver was trapped by her crumpled driver’s door, said Santa Rosa fire Battalion Chief Mark Basque.

Santa Rosa firefighters were called to the 8:36 a.m. crash and cut open the door to free her. She was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Another driver stopped and was aiding the woman when firefighters arrived, Basque said.

A CHP report indicated at least one witness reported seeing the car swerving on the highway prior to the crash.
