Own a piece of the Sonoma Valley High gym floor

Souvenir pieces of SVHS’ old gym floor are being sold in a unqiue fundraiser.|

When the old wood floor in Sonoma Valley High School's Pfieffer Gym was ripped up last summer, freshman girls basketball coach Mike Minigan salvaged as many boards as he could. Thanks to his foresight, current students, parents, staff and alumni can own a little piece of the history of the iconic Sonoma school gym.

The fundraiser is a joint effort. The high school's wood shop students are cutting and shaping the wood plaques, staining them and gluing on the pieces of the old floor boards. The engineering students are engraving the plaques in the Maker Lab. Drue Jacobs, SVHS class of '92, who teaches both wood shop and engineering, is overseeing the process.

The plaques are being sold for $150 and there are only 100 available. To order a souvenir plaque, email coach Minigan at mminigan@aol.com or Jacobs at djacobs@sonomaschools.org.
