Sonoma Valley Health Care District board to consider delaying South Lot sale

Special meeting called for March 29 at 1:30 p.m.|

Sonoma Valley Health Care District officials say they will consider whether “to delay the South Lot process” in a special “call-in” session of the board, Wednesday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m.

The Sonoma Valley Health Care District’s “south lot” is a 3-acre property at MacArthur Street and Fourth Street West formerly owned by the Carinella family. Title for the property was taken by the district in August, 2016, for a sale price of $1.75 million plus associated costs. The total $2 million purchase was made on a loan from a private party, a loan that comes due in August 2018.

In February, the Health Care District had put out a request for proposal (RFP) on the parcel, calling for an “offer of land for development or joint venture” to test the waters on the open market. The land has an estimated value of between $3 million and $4 million.

The only item agendized for Wednesday’s meeting is a “recommendation to delay South Lot process” put forth by district board member Peter Hohorst. A public comment period will precede the South Lot discussion.

The meeting takes place in the Administration Conference Room, at Sonoma Valley Hospital, 347 Andrieux St.
