Sonoma’s new Mayor: Rachel Hundley

Gary Edwards selected as Mayor Pro Tem|

Rachel Hundley is in the market for an oversized pair of scissors — that's because she'll be taking over ribbon-cutting duties this year as Sonoma's newest Mayor.

After council members, city staff and attendees at the Dec. 12 City Council meeting bid adieu to outgoing Mayor Laurie Gallian and welcomed new council member Amy Harrington to the dais, Mayor Pro Tem Madolyn Agrimonti called for mayoral nominations — and Hundley's name received a swift call out from Councilmember Gary Edwards, followed quickly by a second from Harrington.

When the ensuing roll-call vote was over, the council had unanimously selected its new mayor with a speedy diligence that left some attendees' heads spinning. Edwards, meanwhile, was selected in another 5-0 vote as the 2017 Mayor Pro Tem.
