Big rig crash blocks Schellville highway

The crashed big rig reportedly was carrying a load of coats, according to initial reports.|

An overturned big rig on rural Highway 121 early Tuesday in Schellville reduced traffic to one lane during the morning commute, according to the Highway Patrol.

The rig apparently ran off the shoulder and jackknifed at 7:05 a.m. near Ramal Road. It landed on its side, blocking the eastbound lane.

The driver of the big rig complained of pain and an ambulance responded, but he was treated at the site.

The CHP issued an alert about one-way traffic control, funneling it around the wreck for about two hours before the crash was cleared. Westbound traffic backed up to Napa Road, according to traffic reports.

The rig was loaded with boxes of coats, according to initial CHP reports. It was righted and removed.
