Plaza to be lighted Nov. 12

More than 100,000 lights will illuminate the Plaza|

The “Holidays in Sonoma” series of events kicks off with the Lighting of the Historic Sonoma Plaza on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Holidays in Sonoma is a two-month-long procession of festivities in honor of the winter holidays in Sonoma Valley. The event is put on by the Sonoma Valley Visitors Bureau, and includes 8-plus acres of 100,000 lights illuminating the Plaza.

The bureau has invited back for the third year the Transcendence Theatre Company to perform a musical holiday tribute. The event will also include presentations by community leaders, and a live music in front of City Hall.

Hot cider will be available courtesy of the Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa, complimentary hot chocolate will be provided by Williams-Sonoma, and Sonoma Market will offer cookies and gift bags.

Guests are invited to bring beverages, including beer and wine, to the event.

More than 2,000 people attended last year’s lighting ceremony, and more are expected to attend this year.

The lights on the Plaza will be lit each night through Dec. 31.
