On Saturday, a crowd of 285 revelers gathered for Sonoma Valley Rotary Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year - Moonlight Masquerade. Spirited guests donned “Venetian” masks and all manner of costumes to enjoy a magical night of festive fun under the tent at Hanna Boys Center. The evening honored late Sonoman and beloved Rotarian Carole Downing, and did her proud by raising $89,000 – more than enough to fully equip the future Carole Downing Memorial Maker Lab at Altimira Middle School. The full take for the evening was nearly $178,000, according to Rotary president Jon Parker, who says that after expenses and the maker lab funding, Rotary will be able to make additional contributions to support literacy projects for Sonoma Valley’s elementary kids grade K-3.
