Groups will host candidates’ forum

There will be a candidates’ forum for the Sonoma County Board of Education, District 1, and Sonoma Valley Unified School District board of trustees, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at La Luz Center’s Booker Hall.

Candidates invited include the incumbent Board of Education District 1 trustee and current board President Gina Cuclis, and her opponent, Jason Carter. In the race for the Sonoma Valley Unified School District board, Sassarini District, incumbent trustee Gary DeSmet and opponent John Kelly will be on hand.

All the candidates will answer predetermined questions, followed by questions from the public. Spanish language interpretation will be provided. There also will be informational tables for local ballot measures and voter registration.

For those unable to meet the candidates in person, the forum will be broadcast on Sonoma Valley Television Channel 27 (SVTV 27) and on Facebook Livestream.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. for a meet and greet with candidates, followed by the forum at 6:30. La Luz Center’s Booker Hall is located at 17560 Greger St.
