Incumbents file for hospital board seats

Hirsch, Boerum, Nevins seek re-election|

Three incumbent members of the Sonoma Valley Health Care District board have filed papers for re-election in the election scheduled for November.

Jane Hirsch, current board chair; Bill Boerum, secretary; and Sharon Nevins, treasurer, will seek new four-year terms.

The two other board members, Peter Hohorst and Joshua Rymer, are not up for re-election this year.

“I’m pleased that we all have decided to run again because I believe this is an exceptionally strong board, one that has served the district well,” said Hirsch.

“The current board has shown impressive maturity and stability and a strong understanding of the complex issues facing our district. We also work well together in a respectful and collaborative manner.”

Hirsch is a former executive administrator and faculty member at the UCSF School of Nursing. She also served as chief nursing officer at UCSF Medical Center. In addition to serving as a board member for the past four years, she chairs the district’s Quality Committee, and has served on the district’s Strategic Planning Committee. She holds a master’s degree from the UCSF School of Nursing.

During Boerum’s time on the board (2007-present), he has served on the district’s Strategic Planning Committee, Finance Committee and Governance Committee, including advising CEO Kelly Mather on development of the Strategic Plan that was recently released. He served as board chair from 2008-2010, and is also the chairman of the board of the Northern California Health Care Authority, a consortium of five health care districts. He holds an MBA from Cornell.

Nevins, a board member since 2010, is the former chief financial officer of the Department of Public Health for the City and County of San Francisco. She previously served as chair of the Quality Committee and is the current chair of the Finance Committee where her background in finance brings insight and strength to the difficult and complex realm of health care financial management. Nevins received an MBA from the Stanford School of Business and a master’s degree in health services administration from the Stanford School of Medicine.
