Free March 31 workshop explores mindfulness

Workshop explores the mind-body approach to healing|

What is mindfulness and how can it affect your health? Can it be used to treat anxiety, chronic pain and depression? There is a free mindfulness workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31 at the Sonoma Valley Community Health Center that will aim to answer these questions. No registration is needed. Spanish language translation will be available and refreshments will be provided.

Trang Vo, D.O. attended Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo and completed her family medicine residency at the Shasta Community Health Center. She was introduced to the mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) program during her residency. She has since applied and witnessed the benefits of the program in her own practice.

“Mindfulness is becoming more main stream and studies show that it has the potential to help with conditions such as anxiety, depression and chronic pain. My presentation will focus on the benefits of mindfulness, the science behind it, and my own study on using mindfulness to alleviate chronic health issues,” says Vo.
