Local students enjoy Special Olympics basketball fun

SVHS Key Club joins with Kiwanis for event|

More than two dozen Sonoma Valley High School students across all grades are active in the school’s Key Club.

The students share a desire to participate in a wide variety of community service projects through the year.

The club is sponsored in part by the Sonoma Valley Kiwanis Club. Earlier this month, Kiwanis partnered with the Petaluma and Sonoma Special Olympics for its annual basketball game at Hanna Boys Center and the SVHS Key Club was there to help and to play.

The Key Club is active in many service projects in the Valley, from Kris Kringle holiday shopping for families in need to elder care support to helping with the Kiwanis Dictionary project.

On Saturday, March 5, Kiwanis has a volunteer day and Key Club students will be helping to clean the local Meals on Wheels kitchen.

SVHS parent Tiffany Knef is the club advisor and Nick Haley of the Boys & Girls Clubs helped with the Special Olympics event.
