Economic, psychological depression under analysis at Sonoma’s Vintage House

Richard Wolff, Harriet Fraad to explore common sources and solutions in Praxis Peace presentation|

To some there are two kinds of depression – economic and psychological – and the Praxis Peace Institute is presenting an economist and a psychologist to discuss both of these real miseries, and the real solutions which they require.

On Sunday, Feb. 14, noted economist Richard Wolff and his wife, mental health counselor Harriet Fraad, will appear at Vintage House to discuss how economic policies impact our psychological and social well-being.

Many in Sonoma heard Wolff speak last February at SCC on “Economic Democracy: A Cure for Capitalism,” and perhaps some have heard his radio show, “Economic Update,” carried on KPFA, in which he presents economic analyses of today’s social and political challenges.

Wolff has taught at Yale University, the University of Massachusetts, the Sorbonne in Paris, and is currently a visiting professor in the Graduate Program in International Affairs at the New School University in New York.

Fraad is a mental health counselor and hypnotherapist in private practice in New York, a board member of the Journal of Psychohistory and Tikkun magazine, and co-author with Wolff of “Class Struggle on the Home Front” (2009).

The afternoon lectures start at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14; fee is $15. A reception for Wolff and Fraad, immediately following the presentation, will take place in a private home. Cost for both is $40. Visit praxispeace.org for more information and ticket links.
