High school slates ‘Rush’ for Aug. 7, 10

Sonoma Valley High School will hold its student “Rush” on Friday, Aug. 7, and Monday, Aug. 10. Pre-registration packets can be picked up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the main office starting Monday, Aug. 3.

On Friday, Aug. 7, freshmen report from 4 to 6 p.m. while seniors will be from 6 to 8 p.m. On Monday, Aug. 10, juniors report from 4 to 6 p.m. and sophomores from 6 to 8 p.m.

Rush will be held in the Pavilion and in Pfeiffer Gym.

Parents are encouraged to attend Back-to-School Registration with their student. All students will have their school ID photo taken in the Pavilion. Parents and students will turn in their completed grade level packet forms and emergency card in Pfeiffer Gym.

Information and paperwork will also be available for students interested in participating in school athletics and cheer, SVHS Boosters Club, Grad Night, and other school activities and clubs. Transportation and Food Services will also be present to collect forms.

Parents and students can save time by filling out all required paperwork before they arrive.

Students must be cleared of all fees, equipment and books from last year in order to receive their current class schedule.

Donations being asked for the 2015-16 school year are $100 per student and $50 for each additional sibling, and are for:

• Student engagement, recognition and activities such as Dragon Days, Link Crew, Plus Program, award programs, homecoming, school planners, supplemental classroom supplies, incentives, field trips and the like.

• Technology, for maintenance and materials for labs and student computers and opportunity for innovative practice.

• Campus beautification, for enhancement of the physical environment with plants, ground cover, benches, murals and the like.

• Library, for data base maintenance and purchase of new titles.

Students can purchase the ASB Sticker for $65 and receive discounts to school activities and free passes to athletic events.

P.E. clothing will also be available; T-shirt and shorts are $10 each, sweatshirts and sweat pants are $15 each.

Student Planners will be available for no charge.

Checks may be payable to SVHS. Credit cards will be accepted. Parents are requested to bring small bills if paying with cash. After the students have completed all the steps listed above, they will receive their class schedule.
