The Sonoma Valley Unified School District has named Jillian Beall as the new vice principal at Adele Harrison Middle School beginning with the 2015-16 school year.

Beall earned her administrative credential from Sonoma State University. She received her bachelor’s of arts degree in liberal studies with a minor in mathematics in 2008, and her teaching credential in 2009 from Sonoma State University. Beall is currently working to complete her master’s degree in educational leadership.

Most recently Beall taught at Roseland Collegiate Prep Middle-High School in Santa Rosa. Prior to Roseland Collegiate Prep, she taught at Roseland Accelerated Middle School. During her time at Roseland Collegiate Prep and Roseland Accelerated Middle School, she also served as interim assistant principal, the accelerated school coach, and the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) site coordinator.

Beall has been actively involved at the site and district levels as a member of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) visiting committee, training in the ENVoY (non-verbal communications) classroom management program, and varied Common Core trainings. She has participated in these trainings as both a participant and as a trainer.

Mary Ann Spitzer, principal of Adele Harrison Middle School, said, “As I move into my second year as principal of Adele Harrison, the selection of the next vice principal was a clear priority. With Jillian now on board, the Adele staff and I can now take full advantage of Jillian’s passion and enthusiasm for middle school as well as her depth of knowledge about middle school teaching and learning.”

From those who have worked with Beall, she has a reputation for being “… passionate about working with a diverse school community,” for “… going above and beyond to support the academic/emotional success of all students,” and for “… demonstrating leadership and initiative in every assignment.”

Superintendent Louann Carlomagno said that she was impressed by “… Jillian’s experience in various roles of leadership at the site and district levels around curriculum implementation, and by her insights into creating and maintaining a positive student-centered school culture. I see Jillian as a terrific asset for the Adele Harrison team.”
