A Petaluma man is in jail on $70,000 bail on a veritable laundry-list of charges after a high-speed chase through Sonoma Friday evening.

Sgt. Spencer Crum, with the Sonoma Police Department, said that around 8:30 p.m. Friday, the Sheriff’s Office was notified by OnStar that it had a hit on a stolen vehicle out of Tennessee, and that the vehicle, a black Chevy Silverado, was in the vicinity of Highway 12 and Fetters. When a deputy tried to stop the stolen vehicle, the driver took off heading south on Highway 12 and onto Napa Street.

Crum said speeds reached 75 miles an hour during the chase.

When the driver made a right turn heading south on First Street West, deputies called off the chase for safety reasons – and because OnStar was tracking the vehicle.

OnStar reported the vehicle stopped around First Street West and Newcomb Street. Deputies found the vehicle parked behind a business and saw the suspect running toward the back of another business in the same block.

Deputies set up a perimeter, and Dickie, the Sheriff’s K9, was sent in to search for the suspect. Dickie found the man hiding behind a cabinet, covered with a towel, and apprehended him.

The suspect, David Logue, 31, of Petaluma, was taken to the hospital for treatment of dog bites before being transported to jail.

Crum said deputies found methamphetamine, a smoking pipe and some marijuana on Logue.

Logue was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, felony burglary, felony theft of a vehicle, felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, obstructing, hit-and-run causing property damage, a probation warrant, an out of county warrant, evading a police officer by driving the wrong way on a street and committing a felony while on probation.

Crum said the pursuit lasted four to five minutes, and it took another 15 minutes before Logue was in custody.
