Presentation graduates 26 in May ceremonies

Class to attend 7 different high schools|

The Presentation School’s 26 graduating eighth-graders finished their year with a baccalaureate Mass on May 29 and a graduation ceremony on the school’s Broadway campus on May 30.

This class received numerous awards for their academic achievement at the school-wide, local and national level. Nine students received awards from the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C.

Eighth-graders Amanda, Jue, Silvan Kopp, Ava Rognlien, Dylan Rooney, Madison Temkin, Shawnee Wallace and Mikaela Zeiter received the President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence; and Gavin Lehane and Nell Sheridan received the President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement.

At the ceremony, interim principal David Holquin of Justin-Siena High School awarded a merit scholarship for Academic Promise to Shawnee Wallace.

Eighth graders Allison Cooley and Ricky Mendoza were honored with the Daughters of the American Revolution 2015 Citizenship Award.

Mikaela Zeiter received the Nancy Sebastiani Woman in Leadership Award. The Director’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to School Spirit for 2014-2015 was presented by Scott Parker to seventh-grader Kiley Cook.

The class has chosen to attend at least seven different high schools. Nine members of the class are headed to Sonoma Valley High School, seven students will attend Justin-Siena High School in Napa; and three will attend Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa.

Two will attend boarding schools (Stevenson School in Pebble Beach and Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Boston).

Two others will attend Napa High School and Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa. Three are still undecided.

Said Head of School Scott Parker, “It was clear during the graduation speeches that this class will be remembered for their kindness, love for each other, and their joy of learning.”

The Presentation School is an academically engaging independent school guided by Catholic values. It boasts an average class size of 17 and a credentialed teacher-to-student ratio of 11:1. The school is located on a state-of-the-art campus at 20872 Broadway.
