The Valley of the Moon Garden Club will host Master Gardener Dave Gould for a presentation on “Lessons Learned in My Garden” on Thursday, March 5.

Gould has been gardening for more than 45 years and upon retiring attended the Master Gardener Program in 2010. While enrolled in the Master Gardener training course he was presented with many garden techniques and methods, backed by research and science, on the “right way” to do things in the garden, many contrary to the way he had been doing them.

A graduate of Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo with a degree in natural resources management, Gould worked as a wildland fire fighter and a ranger/naturalist before spending 32 years as a ranger/superintendent with California State Parks working all over the state from beaches to redwood forests to historic sites. His talk will present the mistakes he has made in his garden over the years and share some of the lessons he has learned.

The meeting is at the Sonoma Valley Veterans Building, 126 First St. W. A “Meet and Greet” time is at 6:30 p.m. with the meeting presentation beginning at 7. The club provides refreshments, a plant raffle and information on club programs.

Members are free and guests are $5, which can go toward the $20 membership fee. For information, go to vom-garden-club.org.
