Authorities have released the name of the man who was killed this weekend in a crash on Adobe Road near Petaluma.

Mark Perry, 38, of Sonoma, died in the accident, which occurred sometime Friday night or early Saturday morning, according to the Sonoma County coroner’s office. It plans to conduct an autopsy to determine what lead to the man’s death.

Perry was likely speeding when his BMW sports car missed a curve on Adobe Road, near the Frates Road intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol. His car hit an embankment, plowed through a fence and into a vineyard before it went airborne and landed on its roof, CHP said.

A vineyard worker discovered the crumpled car Saturday near a creek along Adobe Road.
