The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa, in partnership with the Pajama Program’s Open Your Heart campaign, will deliver warm sleepwear and nurturing books to children in need.

Celebrating its seventh year of participation, the hotel will be collecting new pajamas, books and cash donations from locals, guests, employees and community partners from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the valet pavilion on the resort’s front drive. All of the collected items will be distributed to local Sonoma Valley agencies. Last year, The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn along with sister properties collected more than 3,700 pairs of new pajamas, 287 books and more than $8,200 in cash donations.

“Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is a proud sponsor of the Pajama Program’s PJ Drive,” said Rick Corcoran, the resort’s general manager. “Our partnership programs focus on supporting community-based organizations that serve children and their families.”

The Pajama Program is a national nonprofit organization providing comfort and love in the way of new pajamas to children-in-need and children waiting for a permanent home. They are youngsters who do not know the comforts of a mother or father to tuck them into a cozy bed and read them a bed-time story. Many have been abandoned or abused, most deprived of any love at all.

“By providing pajamas, we help to create a warm and nurturing bedtime environment for vulnerable children living under difficult circumstances” said Pallie Zambrano, co-president of the Bay Area chapter. For more details, contact pallie@pajamaprogram.org or visit pajamaprogram.org.
