What’s open, closed over the holidays

With Christmas and New Year’s Day falling on consecutive Wednesdays, almost all government agencies will be closed both days.

Sonoma County offices will be closed on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

City of Sonoma offices will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and reopen on Thursday, Dec. 26. The following week, the offices will be closed only on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

The Sonoma Valley Regional Library will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, and reopen on Thursday, Dec. 26. The following week, the library will lose at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and reopen Thursday, Jan. 2.

The Sonoma County Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and will offer no service at all on Wednesday, Dec. 25. The following week will be the same with a Saturday schedule on Tuesday, Dec. 31, and no service at all on Wednesday, Jan.1.

The Valley of the Moon Water District offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, and again Thursday, Dec. 26. The following week, the offices will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

There will be no garbage pickup on Wednesday of either week for customers of the Sonoma Garbage Collector or Redwood Empire Disposal. Collections will be pushed back a day, so that Wednesday pickups will occur on Thursday, Thursday on Friday and Friday on Saturday.

There will be no mail delivery either Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. Banks will likewise be closed.

The offices of the Index-Tribune will close at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25.
