What’s open, closed for the New Year’s holiday

With New Year’s Day on Thursday, most government agencies will be closed.

Sonoma County offices and the City of Sonoma will be closed New Year’s Day.

The Valley of the Moon Water District will be closed New Year’s Day.

The Sonoma Valley Regional Library will close at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Sonoma County Transit will run on a Saturday schedule on Wednesday, Dec. 31, but there will be no service Jan. 1.

There will be no garbage pickup by either the Sonoma Garbage Collectors or Redwood Empire Waste on New Year’s Day. Thursday pickups will be made on Friday, while Friday pickups will be on Saturday.

All schools will be closed through Monday, Jan. 5.

Banks will be closed on New Year’s, and there will be no mail delivery that day.

The office of the Sonoma Index-Tribune will be closed on New Year’s Day.
